What the f00k is ART APPRECIATION?

Azalee Ahrendes: No part of your education is a waste. If you feel that way about it, you shouldn't be in college in the first place. That being said, I would suggest Art History over Art Appreciation. The history classes teach you about the history of art as a whole and go over periods in art development as well as different artists who have come to symbolize each art period. You will most likely need to show an understanding of various types of art (my own art history teacher had us keep a sketch pad and gave us various simple art projects such as collage, perception, and dimension) These projects are meant for people who are not necessarily good at art. The object of the assignment is just to show you understand the concept. However, some professors do not require this.Art Appreciation is much more for people who have a background for art and who understand the concepts associated with art. AA often has more art based assignments and the teachers will expect you! to have a good understanding of art before you start the class. Again, you'd learn about different types of art but you'd spend more time on individual paints trying to understand the overall meaning of a piece....Show more
