Estrella Northway: Absolutely. Natural medicine is best for prevention, and it does a good job of shortening the duration of most common illnesses. Modern medicine has it's place, but I've found it only covers up symptoms rather than addressing the problem.I rarely get sick because I changed my diet, exercise, use a neti pot with warm saline solution to rinse my sinuses every day, and I wash my hands frequently.I use ginger tea to halt nausea and vomiting, peppermint tea for indigestion, peppermint oil for headaches, umeboshi paste for hacking coughs and migraines, and an herbal mixture in a base of honey for a sore throat and chest congestion.I do still keep ibuprofen in my medicine cabinet, and my M.D. still gets a phone call if my home remedies haven't helped in 36 hours or in cases of emergencies....Show more

Raelene Cunnick: I believe the alternative medicine is the way to go. I use Certo for my leg pains and it reay works.
Leontine Kreitz: Yes, I truly believe that commercial medicine will do more harm than good. However, if taken for a short period of time, it may be necessary. I take supplements for cleansing, VIVA ACAI Berry Juice, and I also take a liquid glucosamine for joint pain. Both of these products work wonders for me and also for some of my family members. Any way you go, supplements that are all natural will not harm your stomach, kidneys, liver, etc.
Susan Rambo: NO, mainly cause I already have a bunch of meds in my cabinet that work just fine.
Nilda Bafia: The main difference between Alternative Medicine and drugs are that the n! atural alternatives are best when taken as preventative (and t! herefore have next to no side effects) whereas the drugs are fast use (and tend to have a lot of side effects because of it). There's also the fact that nutritional supplements give your body nutrition it's otherwise lacking so it can operate properly (removing the source of the problem) while drugs tend to either address a single symptom or cover up the symptom so it doesn't bother you as much. Now, as much as I support and use supplements, I'm going to go to the doctor if I have an injury and I'm going to take a Tylenol when I get a bad headache (which is seldom, but still). I've got some of the basics in my closet for when I need them... Tylenol, Ibuprofen, NyQuil, etc. Between drugs and supplements, each has it's own place in medicine and/or treatment. That being said, I still prefer taking supplements to prevent the problems from happening in the first place that would require drugs... but that's me....Show more
