Joel Feagler: I feed two vegans for $200 a month. That's $25 per week, per person. It's actually quite cheap.
Maynard Reevers: If you learn to make your own vegetarian dishes it costs a lot less then a meat based diet. If you buy all processed foods and fake meats it's about the same.
Darwin Ecton: It does if u eat lots of meat substitutes and health-food products. otherwise, it is really cheap
Alexandria Popik: It totally depends on if you are going to be cooking your food or buy the pre-packaged foods. A package of the soy burgers is under $4, but then you are only getting 4 patties, whereas if you were buying $4 worth of ground beef possible to get more than four patties. Reality stinks, but true. So, if your keeping it to basics, buy foods in season vs. when they are out of season, prepare much of your own food it can easily be cheaper. Not that you can't buy some of the processed foods, but keeping it in perspective and not overdoing will indeed b! e cheaper than a diet where you are buying meat.To be honest, a vegetarian diet is a 'regular' diet, just without meat. When the Mayo Clinic supports such, not something that I would see as less than 'regular' or acceptable way to eat....Show more
Joie Libutti: Um... meat, seafood, cheese... etc. are the most expensive items in the store... how can not eating these things be 'more' expensive? So, no, it's a lot cheaper. If you have your own garden, well, it's SO cheap.
Cliff Tyre: In the long run it is cheaper to buy veggies then meat. If you constantly buy meat substitutes then it can get expensive. Try to stick with veggie recipes instead of the pre-packaged foods.
Gilberto Cratin: i dont think it really costs more ..its more about you being able to find foods that actually fit with a vegetarian diet .
